Sprint Team Coaches

Doug is a 9 time member of the US Wildwater team. He has competed at both the World Championships and Master's World Championships and is twice US National Champion in Wildwater. Doug was team manager for the 2011 and 2013 Jr. National Wildwater teams. He coached the Sr. US Wildwater Team in 2007 and 2014. Doug has coach training from USACK and ICF in Wildwater and Sprint. In addition to coaching, Doug is an active masters racer in sprint, surf ski, and wildwater.
Mia started paddling at age 10 with SCKC. She was named to the Junior National Team in 2008, 2010 and 2011 in kayak. She relocated to Oklahoma City in 2011 and was named to the U23 National Team in 2012 and 2014. Her greatest achievements as a paddler are competing at the Junior World Championships and U23 World Championships in 2011 and 2014 respectively. In 2011, Mia was brought on board as Assistant Coach for the Oklahoma City RIVERSPORT Canoe/Kayak program and coached there until 2015. When she’s not on the water, you can find Mia educating at Lululemon Athletica.
Marin started paddling as a whitewater and slalom kayaker. She paddled slalom for several years and competed at the 1996 and 2000 Slalom Olympic Trials. She has been on the USA Wildwater National Team since 2012 and has competed in numerous wildwater world cup events. She was the USA Wildwater National Champion in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and she was 2014 World Masters Champion in wildwater, and Masters Vice-Champion in 2016. In the daytime, She works as an apparel designer.
Henry started paddling with SCKC when he was 10 years and competed with the team up to 2015 after which he began coaching the juniors. He competed at Sprint Nationals 2011-2015 and competed at the US Team Trials in 2015, making it to the finals in the 200m. He is currently a student at UW.
Matt started paddling as a junior and specialized in sprint canoe in the 200m distance. He raced on the US Junior National team for 4 years and competed in the 2012 and 2013 Olympic Hopes Regattas in Hungary and the Czech Republic. He also competed in the Junior World Championships in Portugal in 2015 (Men's C1 200m in all the races). Matt started coaching with SCKC in spring 2016. He is currently a student at UW.
Eli rowed crew in college for 4 years. After taking a 10-year break from water sports to be a big-wall climber, she and her family embarked on 10 years of wilderness canoeing in BC and AK. In 2015, she took up sprint kayak and competed at the 2015 and 2016 Nationals. She is a PSIA Level III certified ski instructor and has been coaching for 25+ years at Snoqualmie where she runs a large junior nordic ski program.
